About OrthoArizona:

OrthoArizona/Mezona Orthopedic are leaders in the field of Orthopedics. Since the mid-1960s, the board-certified and board-eligible orthopedic physicians of this East Valley-based practice have been providing care for multi-generations of families, including pediatric and adult patients.

Client Needs & Challenges:

Mezona has a long-standing reputation for combining state-of-the-art technology with compassionate care. In 2007, the practice locations consolidated to one state-of-the-art clinic, complete with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), digital x-rays, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), and their own physical therapy department.

As a rapidly growing practice, OrthoArizona/Mezona hired LaunchPM to facilitate the build-out of Phases I & II of their 11,731 square-foot facility. The project involved construction of a full x-ray lab, patient exam rooms, the physical therapy facility, a cast room, and staff offices. Therefore, specific challenges included the installation of specialty medical equipment, the transfer of confidential medical records, and the need to complete the project as seamlessly as possible so that the Mezona physicians could continue providing optimal care for their patients.

The LaunchPM Solution:

The LaunchPM team was hired to provide full Project Management services, including extensive coordination with specialty owner-vendors of medical equipment. OrthoArizona/Mezona had a critical deadline to open Phase I by August 1, 2013 and Phase II by August 1, 2014. Drawing on our decades of Project Management experience, LaunchPM provided leadership in the overall design and construction processes to facilitate this schedule. We took a proactive approach in pre-planning and met with the City of Gilbert to understand our permit options, which ensured that we would remain compliant with city ordinances while minimizing disruptions to the construction schedule. In addition, we provided value options analysis on flooring and finishes in order to expedite the schedule. Based on the overall allowance provided by the landlord, the LaunchPM team established a comprehensive project budget to manage costs, and we immediately communicated overall exposure on the project.

With LaunchPM’s Project Management expertise, both phases of the OrthoArizona/Mezona build-out were successfully delivered on time and within budget.
